L-3 GCS INTRODUCES THE PANTHER™ X-BAND VSAT
VICTOR, N.Y. October 1, 2008 - L-3 Global Communications Solutions (L-3 GCS) announced today that it has developed the Panther™ X-Band VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal)..
“The Panther meets our customers’ needs for a complete terminal capable of T1 and higher data rates that is small and light enough to fit in a rucksack and carried by an individual warfighter,” said Bob Jacobson, executive vice president and general manager of L-3 GCS. “We are very impressed by how this terminal has performed at all levels of testing by our DoD customers.”
This highly rugged terminal is highly-portable and offers BGAN-like simplicity for pointing and operation over XTAR and potentially WGS satellites. The Panther™ is the lightest terminal that utilizes a flat panel, phased array antenna for optimum performance in disadvantaged coverage areas. L-3 GCS developed this terminal to be DVB-S2 capable, incorporating LDPC and ACM coding.
