
JOB TITLE: Sr. VSAT Engineer DEPARTMENT: Engineering
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Working with customer to document and clarify specifications, design, develop, evaluate and/or modify electronic parts, components and integrated circuitry for satellite based system communication systems (either Inmarsat or VSAT). Develop and test prototype product; provide manufacturing with product integration support. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned. Design of hardware components, including estimate of component costs, assessment to ascertain suitability of off-the-shelf or internal build of components.
Development and testing of prototype. Determine design approach and parameters; analyze and select equipment and components based on specifications and reliability.
Oversight of project including development of project timetable, coordination of work of junior engineers and technicians, follow-up with vendors to ensure components match specs and delivered on a timely basis.
Development of documentation including BOM, design documentation and user manual.

Knowledge of and experience with government and military customers extremely helpful. Must be able to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment. Must possess excellent communications skills and be able to interact with a variety of people including customers, vendors and other employees. Knowledge of and experience with IP networks and VoIP helpful. Secret clearance highly desired; ability to obtain clearance is required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Candidates must posses a BSEE with 5 or more years experience designing and developing communications systems required. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical marketing brochures and catalogues, government regulations, and other business publications and reports. Ability to write reports, correspondence and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, sales reps, Company employees and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concept and operations to tasks such as factor analysis, correlation techniques, analysis of variances. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret instructions in various formats and deal with abstract and concrete variables. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: None PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to sit, use hand to finger, handle and feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee may occasionally walk, lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities include close vision and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment is that of a typical office. Occasional exposure to dust, heat and cold in warehouse facility.
