L-3 GCS Introduces Its Hawkeye™ III Drive-Away VSAT System

VICTOR, N.Y., March 7, 2016 - L-3 GCS announced today the introduction of its new Hawkeye™ III Drive-Away VSAT system. This versatile solution is capable of being utilized as both a land mobile satellite communications (SATCOM) terminal as well as a Communications-On-The-Pause (COTP) SATCOM terminal. Current and future customers now have the ability to make use of their Hawkeye terminals for applications that require vehicular mounting. Developed with L-3's current Hawkeye III Lite customers in mind, the system provides all of the same dependability, flexibility and ruggedness that they have come to expect from L-3 GCS SATCOM terminals.

Along with the industry benchmark Hawkeye III Lite, the new drive-away system is a 1.2M, fully auto-acquire SATCOM terminal that can be dismounted from a vehicle to support ground-based deployments. It provides the same multiband advantage as L-3's Hawkeye family of terminals, with an easy swap of a feed boom assembly to change frequency bands. The system is fully compatible with the current inventory of Hawkeye III Lite boom assemblies in use with existing customers.

The L-3 GCS Hawkeye III Drive-Away VSAT system is available in X-, Ku- and Ka-Bands and offers versatility for SATCOM users who desire a vehicle-mounted antenna with all the modularity of a flyaway antenna system. The system is designed to meet MIL-STD-810G, and customers will benefit from the value and flexibility of combining national MILSATCOM with instantaneous, portable, on-demand commercial VSAT services under any operational scenario anywhere in the world.
